Fished the Upper Kern for a few day's went loaded with bait/ lures. Crickets (big ones), Salmon Eggs (orange, red),Power bait (green, rainbow, orange),Spinners (gold,silver), and some fly's. Fished 4 pound line.
The water level was a little low but still moving quite fast and its not as cold as July. Flip flops and board shorts was my attire. Temps are in the mid 80's and brisk in the am hours.
Fished open water without any bolder or pools saw a huge carp that scared the poop out of me, and a craw fish scavenging for food. Left that alone after about an hour then moved on to big rocks, pools, and little swirl pools.
Had plenty of bites on the crickets. the spinners pulled some too, and the green power bait was working as well. salmon eggs not so much. I'd say most of the fish we pulled where just under 12" and a pound at best.
