Lieutenant Bones, congrats on the beautiful PB Flattie. :Envious: You worked the sand extra hard today and Poseidon rewarded you handsomely for it. :Big Grin:
I'm glad that you talked me into going with you this morning... I may have to do this more often.
I think the S.W.A.T. Crew might want to join the Brass on the next mission to this battlefield. We would unleash absolute destruction...
You know what I always say, "I believe in Peace through Overwhelming Superior Firepower..."
Conditions looking good right now... so get in the water and go get yours!

Take care everybody.

In the surf... barely visible in the grey light... Mike said to me, "Look at this deep trough running right in front of us..." While he was busy tying on the LC, mine was already dancing through the trough. First cast, FISH ON! What a great start... it's going to be a good day. :!!!:

Didn't fight as hard as I expected... maybe because of the tail...?

Well, right about now my Lieutenant was getting pretty restless and itching for some action. So Mike goes off to scale some serious terrain in search of a firefight. Having his back, I followed closely behind into treacherous territory. No guts... no glory...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut4/Wingnut5/Wingnut%206/Wingnut%207/Picture029-10.jpg

Mike was fan casting into a small sandy area and we both was looking down at his LC when a big black mass slid up behind it. With a sudden burst of speed, the fish lunged forward and inhaled the lure. I remember very clearly seeing the mouth wide open a few feet before impact. Mike was hanging on for dear life as the big girl went on a couple drag smokin' runs... Pretty nimble for his old age, while fighting to keep the fish under control, Mike worked his way down from the treacherous rocks to the boulders lining the sand... I was right behind him. We stumbled among the rocks until the fish was finally spent and came gliding in. I unholstered my Boga Grip and Mike steered the fish with a perfect pass right in front of me, mouth wide open as I reached down and set the clip on the lower jaw. Mike let out a roar as we both knew that this was no doubt his PB Flattie! :Thumbs Up:
Well done Lieutenant, very well done... fine example of "Grace Under Fire." That was textbook from beginning to end. You deserve it my friend! :Applause:

Arthur....

Yet another awesome outing in the AM with ya General.
Congrats on the beautiful toad checker. That fish has
to be 15 years old if not more.
You pulled ahead right out of the gate but old Bones
had some last minute intel from a new drone .....code
name "Seagull".
My new PB was no match for my RPMA (Rocket Propelled
Metallic AYU)
On the first landing attempt when my LC went from being
inhaled to barely hanging on by the tail hook....I almost
had heart failure. The landing zone was very harsh indeed
with ZERO sand which always takes combat to a new level !!
Persistance paid off for me today that's for sure!
When I called you yesterday and told you that there was a
good size swell on it's way so it was time to strike while
the enemy was vulnerable........I knew you would concure
and lead the assault.
I've caught 100's of halibut in the last four years of
dedicating most of my fishing time to the hunt. Finally I
have broken that 30" mark and I'm glad it was on a day
that I was fishing with General Wingnut!

Now it's time for that 37"

Lieutenant Bones,

First off you should have learned through the years of fishing with Commander Arthur that it will always be a tough day even on your own turf!

So like a good host you take him to your "Recon Spot" and he knocks you to the mat not once but twice! I can hear your your thoughts of "Is it not time for your Meeting at Work Buddy" so you can reflect on what just happened!

Very nice turning of the tables and getting into your new PB Flattie! You have spent endless hours of "Recon" and "Pounded" so many miles of "Treacherous Surf" this season and no one deserves it more than you! Welcome to the 30" Club!

Wish I was there to share in your day!

Got caught up in the moment!

Arthur,

Nice 26" Pancake :Not Worthy: and another PB Checker! That is a toad from afloat let alone the surf! :Thumbs Up:

You never cease to amaze us!

Great job on the assist in the capture phase! Glad to see you did not attempt to thumb it like the last time a friend had a PB near the shore! :Bawling:

Now it's time for that 37"

Easy Mike! Don't push it to catch-up so fast or you will need a 40" plus to catch up!

Maybe I'm a bad omen or something, but whenever the SWAT crew has rolled without me recently things have looked way up! Awesome job to both of you guys on another stellar day out in the surf.

Arthur, breaking a PB calico 2 weeks in a row is insane, especially considering the quality. A 22in calico is big for a boat seeing as they usually max out around 24in, but it's very impressive since you got it in the surf. Also, it's funny that you mentioned Halo Reach. That game has taken over my hall, much to the sadness of the girls on the floor. Looks solid, can't wait until I can get my copy.

Mike, it's been so close several times before, but you finally stuck your 30in+ halibut! Awesome job man, and you definitely deserved this fish after the past few trips. I wish I had been there to see it finally happen, but I'm glad Arthur was there after all those early morning recon missions that didn't turn out so hot. Hopefully this is the start of a solid fall season, and you can break that PB a few more times.

Hope to fish with both of you guys sometime soon,

Marc

Mission accomplished with great success.. Those pb fish were hard earned and well deserved. So Arthur captured top brass early in to the mission and continued his attack while Lieutenant Bones provided ground support to the air strike wrapping up the mission with the capture of a high ranking enemy officer.. Glad to see enemies have finally arrived and are ready for battle. The enemy has been evading capture all year long. Hopefully the conditions (fish) will stick around for the fall bite. Once again well done done my friends.

Thanks Mike.

Geez, that surf Calico is bigger than any I've ever caught on any boat.
Mike, you just beat my personal best Hali of 29" :Envious: Art was there when I got that too.
You guys are absolutely nuking the surf as of late, keep it up.
Arthur, have fun in Mammoth this weekend, I hope you find some time to fish.
I remember exactly when and where you caught your PB Halibut Phuong. You caught it on a Nishiki pattern LC. At your pace, it will take you another 10 years to beat that mark. You need to fish more buddy!
Yeah, got some business to take care of in Mammoth, maybe I can spare some time time to fish somewhere up there on Sunday.

Absolutely Awesome!
You 2 are just tearing it up out there. I really hope they are biting like that when I finally get out back to the surf in a week or so.
Thanks for the report Arthur.
Robert
Thank you Robert, wish you the best of luck on your return tour to the surf. I think the Fall bite has started.

I vote that Wingnut and Bones write and produce for Hollywood. Your reports and pix are Oscar-worthy. I'm not kidding... right up there with other battle epics like "Patton" and "A Bridge Too Far." Wingnut, thanks for the up front quote reference. I'm sure it originated with some other author, but it speaks the truth. You guys sure know what you're doing. Remember...

Success comes in cans...

Failure comes in can'ts.

I beleive I just may be mounting an attack next weekend if the weather lays down and cools just a bit...

We'll see but it's payback time, my last outing only produced 2 feesh and it was real hard to pry their lock-jaws open....

Payback payment must be redeemed......with BlooooooD !
