Have not been fishing awhile. Saw JapanRon's recent snapper report and did a last minute, super quick trip out of Long Beach. Joining me today was my new friend Dennis, whom I just built a rod for. Also, his friend Paul and my pops who joined me at the last minute. I dont usually do cod trips out to the LBC this time of the year, but I have not harvested the local stones in that area in awhile. Plus, it is good way to check how the rockfish fishery is doing in that area. Turns out the rockfish is in excellent shape. Lots of big cod. We had the red snappers and the green blotched pushing 5 lbs. We added my favorite cod to eat, the barberpoles to my dinner selection for the week. The deeper stuff at near 300 was not as good as the shallower 150-200 feet. A few hours out in the big blue and right back in. Snap shots:

The first picture pretty much sums up the whole trip. Big reds with all of us tangled up. Every drift was like this on this piece of rock. We could of have cut the day shorter if we headed to this rock earlier.

Larry, Moe, and Curly. The three most dominate rockfish in this area besides for the Bocaccio, which we stayed away from.

Here is Paul with a giant vermillion rockfish. We caught quite a few big ones today.

The delicious flag rockfish.

Our bounty. We got a real easy limit. Excellent for just a few hours out.
Thanks for letting me build your rod Dennis. Nice to meet you Paul. Thanks for coming out fishing with me. I will see you on that tuna trip, if I can get off work. See you all next time.
