Green Valley Lake on Labor Day Weekend (bonus report inside)

Brief report:


Well, it was my dad's birthday this past weekend so I decided to treat him to some trout fishing at GVL with my brother's family and my uncle.

We arrived at the lake a little after 6am only to find a crowded shoreline. Luckily we were able to claim a decent section of our favorite shoreline.


Our method of fishing for the morning was bait-n-wait (because of the crowded shorelines) with two favors of dough bait for the trout to choose from. One was "Brownie Dough" and the other was our all-time favorite, "Velveeta".:Wink: (PM for more info)

The fishing was a little slower than our last visit out here, but we did manage to hook into few nice trout on both dough baits.

As for my trout catches, I was only able to hook one DFG stocker that I wasn't able to get a picture of (my pop doesn't know how to use my camera).:(

Bonus report:

GVL stocking info: This past week the lake was stocked by three different hatcheries (Calaveras, Jess Ranch, and DFG), which totaled to 6000lbs. So you trout anglers get out there while the lake is full of meat waiting to be caught.

What day were you there? I was there all weekend...we did great..C&R'ed a lot of fish!!! also Bob (the manger) told me that it was 3000lbs...nice report!!!!!!

We were there on Saturday for a few hrs.

That's cool that you guys caught quite a few trout.

Oh and the nice lady that walks around the lake and collects the cash told us that 6000lbs of fish went in. When she said that I thought to myself, "damn, that's alot of fish."
