Well first of all, this is the first trip into the Eastern Sierras for me. (I know...sad) The only fishing I have done in the Eastern Sierras was way south, the Kern and Lake Isabella. So I had 10 days of vacation and it was time to head up north.

Took me little more than 5 hours to get to Bridgeport... we made a couple of stops along the way.

Wed 8/18
Try to make this short... Got to Mundos house wed afternoon... Didn't fish, but went to scout the E-Dub

Thursday 8/19
Fly fished the East Walker River with Staybent guide Mundo Robles. This was my true introduction to fly fishing. I have fly fished, but not the right way. Mundo taught me and my lil brother the basics to fly fishing, and before you know it, we were catching beautiful browns on the East Walker. Great teacher.

Friday 8/20
The 20th was my birthday!!! (24 years old... getting old) We fished Bridgeport Res. We were still-water nymphing with the fly rods. This was also my first time still-water fly fishing and it was bad ***!!!! Mundo was saying we were going to catch "real" fish, not measly little stockers and he was right. These fish fight and they fight hard!!! Lost quite a bit of fish but it was my first time fishing like that. Caught a couple on bait, but catching them on the fly was awesome!!!!!!!!! Brought home 9, with the biggest being 2-3lbs. (released many)

Saturday 8/21
Fished Twin Lakes.. not much to report there, but lots of little stockers. Caught our limits for 10 fish. They were all small. Twin Lakes is a great lake just chill and kick back. It was awesome!

Sunday 8/22
Fished Little Virginia Lake... WOW... This place is beautiful!!!!!!!! The Lake is beautiul... was a bit windy, but we still fished no matter what. The fish there were a bit bigger and fought pretty good. There were two people fishing at the Lake that caught some nice Alpers. One was about a 5 and the other one was about a solid 3. Fished there the whole day and then it was time to hit the road back to Bakersfield.

All in all this hands down has to be the best fishing trip my brother and I have ever done. It wouldnt have been a success without the help of Guide Rey "mundo" Robles. THANK YOU! Anyone fishing the Bridgeport area should really partner up with Mundo--- Staybentfishing.com/

I love fishing Little Virginia from my float tube in the deep hole at the southeast end of the lake. :Secret: Picked up a few Alpers from there over the years. Had a 6-3 last September by jigging a red powerworm.

Is that Mt. Whitney just about right above the rear bumper of your truck? I seem to remember a waitress at the Lone Pine Cafe saying don't let the big jagged peak at the right fool you ... Mt W is the one right behind it ... farther back ... optical illusion kinda thing.

THANKS

Mt Whitney is the peak just left of the telephone pole, farther left is Lone Pine Pk. Not sure what peak is right of the bumper.

Thanks pendagger. I recall that it was just behind that big jagged peak ... and had two little bumps on the left leading up to it. I was on the south side ... instead of the north side.
