Woke up at 430am with the throat and the nose - DAMN, am I sick? I've been so charged for this trip all week i worked through it and got in the car for the drive up to SB.

We love the wave walker.

25 inch barley legal on my first drop. Stoked! looks like it's going to be a good day.

Same fish. We caught at least 10 lings today ranging from tiny little pups to 1 legal.

Limited on salmon grouper too. Worthington with a nice size boccaccio.

We fished the rigs for a little bit and pulled in a few sand dabs.

Right after this pic was taken, Worthington and I tangled lines like true pros. 20minutes later we were fishing again.

We moved to another spot and it was wide open reds and chocolates. Mike won the chocolate pot with this monster.

Final count was 72 fish caught, 29 kept. Lots of little reds and lings were safely released, but a good amount were lost due to my power pro snapping every 5th drop. Lots of re-tying. Such a bummer. i just had 300 yards put on my sealine, and it was the most brittle crap ever. i finally switched to my revo (we were shallow enough) and didnt have one problem on my invisibraid. not sure if they spooled me up with some really old stuff or what, but im sticking to sdiderwire from now on.

Hi mrjonez,

PowerPro snapped !! What lb test ? What color ? I've used the 30lb test PhantomRed for 2 years and my 30lb test Seaguar floro parts before the main line !!

Snapped ...... means ...... when hooked up, jigging, snagged ..... ? Was your drag hammered ? Interesting.

20lb green. it would just break in random spots, on the 3rd guide, on the 5th guide, on the tip. i could break it by pulling on it with my hands. i peeled off 20 yards thinking i might have rubbed against some rocks, but then it snapped at the reel on a hook set so i just gave up.

It could be a chipped/scratched guide ring fraying the line. All you gotta do is push a q-tip through. If you see any cotton stuck to the guide, it means the guide is fraying your line.

Hi again mrjonez,

I had such a thing happen to me with mono. What was happening was (in my case) the ceramic insert was cracked on the tip top. Now normally there was no apparent problem but when I struck a fish the line either cut then or was cut enough so that strain of any kind along the rod caused the line to part. It was impossible to tell the crack by sight and even the Q-tip trick didn't work UNTIL I put a length of line in the guides, loaded the rod and ran the line along and around the entire inside and 90 degree angle to the guides.
