Took the boat out to Prado today to whet my bassin' appetite. I was suprised to see several hundred shad floating about, along with numerous dead catfish, carp and (GASP) bass. The dead fish stench even overpowered the odor of nearby dairies. Obviously a bloom of some sort happening right now and it's sucking all of the oxygen out of the water. The ranger said it happens once a year but in my several years of visting the lake during the Summer, it's a first for me.
I don't know if coincidence or not, but I haven't seen the water inflow pipes turned on during my last couple of visits.
REPORT- Only one bass caught on a Rattletrap. I guess the bass are focused on breathing right now, not eating.
