View Full Version : SMB 8/8/10 Weekend Cod

Pops paid for my new prop for my boat. Plus his friend installed it for me. Since my money is no good to them and they love the rockfish, I decided to pay them back with a weekend codding trip. I usually dont like fishing the weekends, but I made an exception this time. Woke up at 4:30 and even before I got out of bed my dad and his 2 friends were already waiting for me. It was really tough rockcodding. The SW winds made drifting over the structure quit difficult. Usually it is just one stop shop and back in before noon, but I had to make a few stops to get them a decent amount of fish. Spend the whole day hitting the inner and outer SMB banks. Lots of boats out codding and which made it look like the winter cod season. Hit up 3 spots and end the day with near limits. Didnt take too many pictures, but this what I got:

Inner SMB vermillion. Darker in color.

Inner SMB Lingcod. Nice big and fat. Shallow water.

Outter SMB Lingcod. Smaller and Skinner. Deep water. I usually dont harvest more than 1 per week, but since fishing was slow, we harvested 2 this week.

4 people all day - 35 fish, tough day in the SMB. Thats all. See you next time.

35 fish still sounds like a good day. even if you had to work hard at it =P. Grats on another excellent day on the water; any day you're out on the water is a good day :P
