8-5 Bako boys +1 {not wanting to be outdone}

Planned on heading out before work on 8-6 around 0300. Told TB about my plans, and he insisted we hit it together!

So plans change to meet up around 8 pm. Talked with GLTFTS and got his juices worked up and insisted on joining in. So plans changed for a third time. Split up and meet around midnight.

I stop by the gas station to pick up some chovies, thought I would need something to kill the edge from fishing with these two all night. The bickering between these two about who is the "duct alpha male" can wear on a guy, so the unspoken, yet well known rivalry between us three was in full force last night



Anyway I arrived first spot at 1830 and was 98 degrees. Typical Bako duct evening

I rig up a bait rod while I jigged a fluke.. Nothing for 1.5 hrs.. Had to give up the bait because of the moss conditions.

TB called and was on his way, so I pick up and move to another location for 30 mins. NOTHING.

We meet up and I jump in the truck with TB. We roll up to our favorite spot to find 7 guys fishing. We decide to walk up and shoot the bull and walk around to the other side. Guys were cool and let us jump right in with them. They were baitn down and had no luck. TB and I were throwing KPNs and Lucky crafts.

BOOM, TB hooks up on first cast

Got a pic message from FTS right at the same time. He got one at another spot

Next thing we know we got 3 guys on our backs chunking their 4 oz pyramids with choves right in front of us.

Its cool though, I mean they shared their spot with us. We fish for 30 mins more or so and BAM, cutbaits on again. Limit baby!

As I was walking away from the zone to unhook my fish I catch a glimpse of some fish under a light near the moss line. I strain to see what the were,,,,,, OH YEAH!!!! CARP baby...

Good thing I ALWAYS keep a slice of bread with me. {you just never know} I ended up fly lining small balls of bread on the edge of the weed line absolutely slaying the carp. It was WFO,, I kept waitn for that toad, but he never showed up. Only dink carp..

One of the groups of guys fishing had his two boys, 5-8 yr olds with him and those boys were so happy to see the fish that TB and I just let those boys have them to take to mom. Besides, it just felt like the right thing to do.

So TB and I wrap up and TB has to split, so I meet up with FTS just as he pluckes a fish out on his third cast and had 3 hook ups on his next 5 casts {SIR FARMSALOT}. Fished for about an hour with 2-3 more tags, but no hookups. Limits all around, with some bonus fish. TO would be proud.

All mine, and Gary's came on KPN. TB got his on Lucky Craft. Moss was bad in spots, and very fishable in others. Move around and find something that can work for ya!

I did farm 2 feesh and 1 was signifigantly larger but thats fishing...just glad to get a lil action....good times : )

OK I think I have you beat with this striper fever accident occurence. I have gone in. 2 years ago new years day. Have you ever gone in? Luckily there was no current in the winter but it was freezing cold. Had like a half mile walk back to my truck, soaking wet Jan 1st. Happy duct new year I thought.

those pipes will get you time and time again, I've tripped on them at least a dozen times and I know there there....I've got serious monkey bumps and some slight cuts before but none as bad as those.....

Next time rub the blood on the lure !.....

I actually have done it b4 (rub my blood on the lyre !)......didn't catch anything because of it though but it left one helluva story to tell..

But this comes from a person (me) who....when hooked with a Lucky craft !......stops and gets his camera out to take pictures of the carnage...THEN tries to remove the hook....

we are some twisted sick folk.......one might say it's a "duct" mentality !

And the culprit who decided if I was gonna shed his blood…that he’d shed mine !

That night/morning, I think I landed 5 stripers and had been releasing them ALL !

After that……..that Jailbird had ta pay the ultimate price at my dinner table !

Damn…..It took me 20 minutes just to free the fish from the lure as he was still attached to me…the same treble that had the fish hooked was lodged into my finger…..

No one to help a brotha out either…I was there by myself !

Finally after freeing the fish from the treble hook…..and after I launched that fish in anger a good 15 yards !

I went hunting in my truck for my pliers……

NO GO !...
After another 20 minutes of sweating and maybe even shedding a tear or two in pain trying to “RIP” the hook out…

In the desert…I finally accept the fact that I just may have to go to the hospital to remove it….

DAMN !

I didn’t want to stop fishing….

SO …….

I tried pulling it out ONE MORE TIME !

IT CAME OUT !

And the rest is history !
