So it has been about 8 years since I have fished the oil rigs. My father use to take me out there to fish a lot. This was one of his favorite spot to fish. Unlike my Dad, I hated to fish there. From what I can remember the condition were terrible, but the fishing was great. Has anyone been fishing the oil rigs as of lately? I was thinking about going out there this Sunday.

I fish the rigs off HB and always kill em!! Lots of calicos, sculpin, sheephead. Pitch a live chovie as close to the rig as possible with a small egg sinker and you should get picked up before you even hit the bottom. Good luck!

They will call the Sheriff on you if you fish closer then the 300 ft warning.
Thats a *football field away* and makes it impossible to fish...

So expect to get a dime dropped on you, if your fishing the Rigs.
But dam, they hold a lot of fish at times.... :-)

what nessie hunter is referring to, if you missed it, is homeland security was initiated after 911, and you can not bring your vessel closer then 300 feet away to any oil platform for fishing.

That explains why there are no yellow reports no more. 911 screwewd up several hot spots in SD bay.
