I caught a crab today from the surf.
He was eating the bait and I hooked him right through the mouth.
It wasn't on purpose though, so I let it go.
It was about 7-8" wide.

You like that San O spot. Never seen a crab caught at the beach.

Very cool! I've never "caught" a crab on a hook and line. I say "caught" because i have brought them in before....but they're just stubborn and dont let go of the bait haha

this time of year rock crabs move in to bump uglies. Sometimes you can find legals at low tide clustered around the jetties. (legals are 4 inches across the carapace)

Hey Swank,
Like I said, it wasn't on purpose. I'm going to look and see what type it was.

Hey Smoke,
It wasn't a rock crab. I'm gonna look it up. It was gray with only 1 picher claw.

Maybe it was a sheep crab?
