6 AM to noon. My wife & I and her cousin & her family did our annual Breakfast-@-Ruby's this morning. Lot's of smelt were caught on mussel & shrimp using #10 or #12 hooks near the surface. I spent the 1st 1.5 hrs. farming 1 12 in. halibut on a bass assassin. Next, I jigged 3 #2 live bait hooks for a tom cod, then wsitched to 2 #10 snelled hooks with squid & shrimps for a few smelts. Others in may group also caught a few smelts. Also tried a few casts of a bonito jig, to no avail.

Other catches: several mackerals, a foot long rubberlip, and a yard long shovelnose. (a little kid called it a hammerhead shark  ) We also saw a number of small (1'-2') rays swimming on the surface.

All in all, a nice mellow day @ the pier.
