Did a little corbina fishing on Saturday in some local SD waters. Bite
was really tough but patience was going to pay off. When my buddy and I
first got there we were faced with the challenges of marine layer not
burning off and tons of of other fisherman at our spot. So we
fished, first cast, Joel hooks into a small Corbina.
However I never believe the first fish on the first cast is a good sign
of how the day is going to be. Fished for about another 2 hours and left
the scene with only one fish.

Second spot of the day was difficult, too. Tons of swimmers and surfers I
guess expected to be there, now that this marine layer is burning off.
Saw the corbina once we got some sun, also saw a lot of stingrays in the
surf too. Be careful. We got into a really good BSP bite there at one
point. In fact it got so good there were these two kids that saw me
catch all these BSP so I asked one of them if she wanted to fish and
give it a try. I think she was 8 and mom said yea go for it. So she even
caught two of those BSP herself

Around 2 is when I stuck my first corbina and it broke me off, second
corbina pulled and shook off. Meanwhile Joel hooked into a massive
Spotfin Croaker. He was like a little hero on the beach for a while
there with a nice crowd around him, no pics of that though, sorry. The
third and final corbina came at 3:30 that was properly landed and fillet
later that night!! Not a bad day, just a tough day, but caught my first
Corbina of 2010

Again if you plan on heading to the surf, be aware of stingray!!!
