Took the kid tubin newport harbor again today.... so I have a few questions...

1... what time is the best time to go... I always go about 4pm..ish and it seems like its extremely difficult to get the bite on... I am trying to target bay bass....

2... where is the best spots if there is a best spot to fish for bay bass...

3... I caught this fish today right by the wedge before the rocks start and I have no idea what kinda fish it is... anyone know....

Thanks

No the fish you got there is some kind of wrasse. It's in the Sheephead family.

1. Time, is all about the tides

2. Fish tight next to structure; docks, boats, refrigerators in the water (if there were any lol)

3. I'm going have to agree with the Wrasse idea

Semicossyphus pulcher (Ayres 1854), the Sheephead. Both Californias. One of three temperate species in this genus. Live in rocky bottom areas, particularly in kelp beds. Males to three feet, fifty years in age. Female off of San Diego and a two foot male in a public aquarium. Tow inch juv. below

That's a Seniorita and is a member of the Wrasse family.

Female Rock Wrasse. And that's a preggo one. thats the biggest wrasse ive seen in a while.

Not a senorita. Senoritas are lime green and yellow.
