Hey guys I got a buddy coming in from denver and I wanna take him shark fishing from the seal beach pier at night. normally I just fish for rays and shovelnose. What would be our best bet. If the mackeral are still biting at night im gunna use live macks but if not what would be my go to bait.

Worse comes to worse, get on the beach and scoop a $#!+ load of sand crabs to catch those shovelnose. I used to do that, and id get a hook up every 10 mins.
But if there's mac, slide rig that bastard, and go after leopards & threshers.

Squid is always a good backup. Fresh mackeral fillet on a hook is good too.
