Monte Carlo with my wife and daughter A.M.

Good morning,

My wife has been really wanting to go fishing recently, so she took Friday off, and we decided to go on the Monte Carlo out of 22nd St Landing, for a ½ day morning trip. So Thursday afternoon, I made sure Shelley and Britney’s fishing gear was in perfect condition, including new line.

We arrived at the landing at 545 am, purchased our 2 discounted tickets (thanks Jim), got a pass for Britney (thanks Danny and Maggie!), and boarded the boat at 620 am. We were off promptly at 630 am, in search of the Sand Bass!

Danny made his safety speech, which included what were were targeting, recommended tackle, and how long it would take to arrive in the area.

Today arsenal for Shelley and Britney’s gear (I didn’t bring my gear, when I take my wife and daughter, I just like to hang out with them, to make sure they have a good time and catch fish J):

12 lb test #2 hooks, 4 oz torpedos, dropper looped
15 lb test, green whams, ½ oz yellow leadheads
25 lb test, mint green Tady C’s

We had to stop and load up on fresh anchovies from San Pedro Bait, and then we were off in the hunt for Sand Bass.

About 40 minutes later, we arrived in the area, metered some fish, and dropped the anchor.

It took awhile, but we started to pick the sand bass, and Britney gets bet and sets the hook! Lol…a sand dab, but its her first dab, so she was happy!

Not to be outdone, Britney gets bit, and sets the hook hard, this time it was a nicer fish!

After that, it was pretty much a pick the rest of the morning, then the mackerel decided to invade us at EVERY spot we fished, which was VERY VERY frustrating! But Shelley and Britney managed to catch bass, and literally outfished most of the people on the boat, lol….sad, some dudes had no bass or one or two…my wife and daughter had close to limits.

You had to really work and have a clue today if you wanted to catch fish, it was by no means “wfo”, which my wife and daughter made me proud. Like I stated previously, some guys had no fish, or one or two, so they kicked ***! Lol…
On the way in, the girls decided that they wanted to go back out on the afternoon run also, I will be posting a report for that soon!
