Red Drum

Did a half-day trip in the Santa Monica Bay with Jason “jscrib”, aboard my 15ft aluminum Duroboat “Red Drum”. On the water at 10am and off the water by 4pm.
The first spot we tried had a lot of bait balls hanging around the structure and it was instant bendo on hungry spawning migratory Sand Bass. Within a couple hours we caught over 40+ Sandies. All real nice quality Paralabrax Nebulifer’s.
My first Cloud Bass of the day, I caught most of my Bass using an assortment of 5-6inch Basstrix swimbaits.

Once we got tired of pulling on all those Sand Bass, we moved out to a deeper piece of structure and caught 10 Vermilion Rockfish, 2 Brown Rockfish and a Cinnamon Rockfish.
Here is Jason with his first tasty Vermilion Rockfish.

A picture of me holding up some of the tasty Rockfish that were headed for the grill. We had to practice C.E.R. (catch, eat and release) on those tasty fish.
