Hey, I have a question. I am starting to get into surf fishing. I have only actually caught and released one fish, but I intend to try and take a few home one of the days.. I am used to stringing or icing up a few trout, but what do I do with my salt water catch.. I just seems to be a different beasts. How do I keep these fellers fresh?

I use Keep it Cool bags, from smart & final. Combination of a cooler and a grocery bag. a few bucks each.

All i do is go into a carl's junior and fill it with ice for free. ;) they have a velcro strap on the top to seal the bag. Still gotta keep it out of the sun though.

They keep ice frozen for quite a while. Another benefit is, since they arent traditional coolers, they can be stuffed into your backpack when doing the 1/2 day trips.

from my experience I have noticed that salt water fish dont hold up as well with out being on ice. If you gill and gut them you should be good for a little while as long as it is not to hot. You can always bring an ice chest and throw a little ice in it

A bag of ice in ice chest is the WTG as simijab said.
