I got a call from my buddy Chris asking if I wanted to hit up the Santa Barbara Harbor for a couple of hours
with him and his firend Lalo on the 14" aluminun that we put together from donations.
Pulled up to the Bait tank and got a scoop. Before I could pay the man Chris was already pinning a
sardine and tossing his line down. I immediatley got squared away and followed suit. Within 30 seconds
his reel starts screeming - he lets it run and after a good 5 second run he burried the hook. Whille he's
fighting the fish I'm getting the net ready and all of a sudden my rod starts screeeming. Chris gets his on
the surface first and Lalo comes throught with the perfect net job. Shortly after that
I get mine to the surface and after a few trys and couple short runs Lalo gets it in the boat. Chris's was a fat
and taped out at 28". Mine wasn't as fat and wide but I still got 27" out of it.... Not a bad day for only fishing
for a few minutes.
