A couple of weeks ago, I went fishing at Irvine Lake with my friend and Irvine Lake Guide, Don Spencer. What a great day. We started on the north side of Santiago working the bank. We both caught a couple of bass, but nothing big. Don then took me out in the middle of the lake where the wipers (striper/white bass hybred) were boiling all over the place. We were throwing top water and catching 2-4 pounders on every cast. What a blast that was. Next, Don and I started fishing rock piles. This is where it realy got amazing. I, like most guys, would fish the bank. Don knew where the rock piles were and the fish there were willing to chew. We caught bass up to 6 pounds on jigs and carolina rigs. What a day. We were in by 2:00 and I easily caught over 20 bass. Thanks Don.
