Good evening,
Original plan was to take my wife and my daughter Britney on the City of Long Beach on the morning run today, but the boat got chartered for Monday’s a.m. trip. Tried to make other plans, but those fell through also, so it looked like it was only Britney and I for the p.m. session.
We left our place in HB at 11:30 and arrived at the landing at Noon. We went into the office and purchased our tickets, and headed over to the gate to wait for the boat to arrive. It arrived a short time later, they boarded all of us, and we were off to the fishing grounds promptly at 1:00.

Crew today was Captain Jason Rico, Sue in the galley, and Tyler on deck. Jason made his safety speech, and informed us that the fish have been right out in front a couple miles out, which was great! Tyler went around with the Jackpot list, and as always, I put both Britney and myself in.
I didn’t plan to fish today, I was going to do my usual and just hang out with my daughter and let her fish and make sure she was having fun, so I set Britney’s gear up with:
1. Custom Pac Bay Calcutta 250 12 lb test, dropper loop.
2. Calico Special Calcutta 250 15 lb test, dropper loop.
Once we left the harbor, immediately I could see it was blowing HARD! So we were off in the trough to the first spot, all the while concerned about Britney, shes never been out when its been this rough. She handled it like a champ all day though!

We found a nice spot of fish eventually, and dropped the anchor on the first spot. We hooked and landed a couple fish, all the while with the boat swinging pretty hard due to the high winds. It took awhile, but Brit and her persitance paid off, and she landed her first NICE sand bass!

Well, a short time later, Jason wasn’t happy with the lack of fish here, and moved us to another area, and dropped the anchor once again. This spot never picked up either, so Jason made a couple more moves until he found a better spot of fish, and dropped the anchor.
This spot eventually started to bite better, and we were able to pick off some bass as they flurried under the boat. Brit started to get into the groove, and really started putting the wood to the sand bass.
A short time later, she dropped down a nice bait, and she got bit HARD!!! This fish immediately ran towards the stern, and she made her way under and over people, and the fish stopped running once she hit the corner. She worked this fish EXACTLY how I taught her, and after a few drag burning runs, the fish finally came to gaff! A solid 6 lb fish!!!
HHHOOOKKKK UPPP!!!

After sacking up that beast, we retied her dropper loop, she found a small brown bait in the tank, dropped it down, and HOOK UP! This fish did the same thing as the first large one, but not as intense, and after working the fish PERFECTLY, she got this to gaff! A solid 3 ˝ lb fish!

Jason kept us out late, due to the fact that the fishing and weather was TOUGH at the beginning of the afternoon, which was really cool of him. Jason announced we had a few more minutes left, and to fish hard. We picked a few more bass, and it was time to go home.
Tyler pulled the anchor and came back with the Jackpot scale, and hung Brit’s fish on it. He called out three times, and no one wanted to even TRY to beat her fish! LOL! They had no chance, so my baby girl, once again, took the Jackpot!! We kicked the Jackpot back to the crew, and headed back to the landing. The weather, of course, layed down really good on the way home. Lol….
ANOTHER JACKPOT FOR THE RECORD BOOKS FOR BRITNEY!
