Mondo21 Fishing With Captain Keith n Co. W/Pics

Koshaw and I headed to San Pedro harbor on 7/3/2010 Saturday Morning. I met Chuck at his job,parked my SUV and thru my things in his car. We had to be at Captain Keith's boat at 6am. We were about 10 minutes late,thanks to me. We had one more person that came right after us. We boarded and said our hellos to everyone. Before we left,The Captain showed us how to hook Mackrel and Squid.
It was a cool day,not bad only needed a light jacket. I did layer on some clothes,just in case.:Wink: We were off to pick up bait... Here is a pic of a bldg.

We headed for the City of Rancho Pales Verdes. Beautiful area. The sun came and you couldn't asked for a better day on the water.
I fished with Chris and Andrew. Andrew is Asian and Chris is white. So you will know who is in the pics. A lot of you know Koshaw already,and if you don't he is Asian w/the Team 57 shirt on. Captain keith has the shorts on and I'm the only woman on the boat.

We caught a lot of fish, some were short,that we had to throw back and Koshaw caught a HUGE Stingray. Didn't get a pic of that ,in the begining of our journey, I was sicker that a dog (seasick):Evil: I did get over it,after a few hours.
We caught Calico Bass, Sugar Bass, Tree Fish, Baby White Sea Bass-short, Manta Ray-threw back, and Ling Cod-short

These last pics is me trying to bring in a Ling Cod it took about 15 minutes to bring him in, I was sooo tired fighting this beautiful fish. The funny thing is, it was time to go so we were picking the rods up and he was at the end of my hook, SURPRISE!!!
Chris took all the pics of me, he also jumped-up on the ladder and took some ariel shots!

Someone else caught a Ling Cod and we both hand to put them back in, they were less than 32' .
We did get some company that stopped by, 2 Sea Lions playing in the water...

This was a great trip, and most likely I will be going back one day soon.

Great report and pictures. I'm gonna check for sure, but I believe the legal size for a ling cod is 24"

I was told it was 24' but it was changed to 32'. So I have no idea. That fish wore me out! Anyway,where did you get the info Robert?
I just went on-line with a Captain of a boat and he fishes all the time for ling and he gave the size 26'. Does it vary from state to state?

Here it is, from the horse's mouth, the link to the CA DFG regulations, 2010 edition, please refer to page #18 (for Southern CA area): size limit is 24" for lingcod. (although the limit is the same for all of CA):

It can be freely downloaded from the DFG site at the link in my previous message, and you can print it out at your convenience.
It is pre-formatted for you, ready to go to print.
