This is a report on yellowtail fishing, on a boat
This time it was the "Mission Belle" out of Point Loma Sportfishing
The fish was on top I heard somebody say, so I strapped a surface jig on the jig set up
A mint color salas 7x on 30 pound suffix elite line, Newel 322 and Calstar 690j
I was ready to rumble, wait, I need to set up a live bait rig, so it was my dad’s black mamba rod,
a rebuild Truline bm70, with 20 pound P-line and a 2/0 short shank mustad hook,
and the same but with a 3/8 egg sinker on my 3rd rod with 25 pound line.
The boat started running, got some sardines, a lady was our deck hand ..

Once we made it to the spot, there was a lot of boats,
so we moved around to the south side of all the boats,
and we started fishing live bait.. the first customer was a nice yellow on 20 pound test line,
the fish ran hard, so I had to pick up the rod, to add resistance, and help stop that fish,
it tired and I reeled 3 times, slowly picked up the rod and reeled again 3 times,
until the fish go tired and it was gaffed.

A buddy that fishes Diamond Valley lake was on board with his girlfriend
and they also got into the fish, her fish was nailed by a mako shark and lost the tail.

Later on the day I got a couple more, one on the surface iron and another on sardine

We also fished the island but there was a lot of seals,
And the day got a little windy and we returned home
