So i had gotten off work around 8pm thursday night in Las Vegas, and was all packed up and ready to head back home to Norwalk, CA. While i was still at the house in vegas, i checked the fish report as i do everyday to see how the fishing was going. And i noticed that the Victory in Long Beach had caught limit cudas that same day.
9pm thursday night im sitting in my car, ready to hit the 4 hour drive back home. All that was on my mind most of the way home was to get on the Victory to fish and relief some stress from work. Hoping to get home at estimated 1am, i would give myself some time to rest. But i got caught up in some construction traffic and didnt reach home til 2am.
Got home, unloaded my dirty clothes, and packed up my fishing gear, and 230am, my brother and i are off to get gas and snacks and head to Pierpoint. We decided to go early, knowing its a friday and that fishing has been successful throughout the week, we just wanted to get a good spot.
We get on the boat at around 5am, 1st ones on the boat, tossing plastic lures and hookin up on some herring and short white seabass.
Slammed on cudas all day and caught our limit, so we fished the bottom in hope of some bass. We bring up 4 fat sand basses, estimated 5-9lbs. Earlier in the day my little brother pulls up a fat log cuda off the jig. And guess what? It takes the jackpot! Out of 50 other anglers, who knew how many played jackpot, but he takes the win. Hes lucky i put him in for the game. *ENTER JACKPOT NO MATTER WHAT!!!*
We both ended our day an hour before Captain Mike ended the entire trip for everyone on board. After we docked, i was walking towards the parkinglot to my truck, and i see a familiar t-shirt and tattoos... as for me being only a couple weeks new to this forum, i was like "oh s#!+, thats FISHBONES!" Then i saw him again as i was about to drive away and he walks passed my truck, and i stop and ask him if hes "fishbones" from FNN, and it sure was. Real cool guy. Nice to meet you Alex aka fishbones!
And thats how my last minute fishing trip went and ended.
