Hit the sierras a couple weeks back. The usual leave friday after work, come back sunday morning thing. Only three fish. Two personal bests.

Saw this gnarly thing in bishop at about midnight. :EyePop:

Arrived at our camp for the night (flat spot to park the truck). :Envious:

Woke up a little later then we wanted saturday so we brough the coffee with us instead of having a cup before we started walking.

We fished hard for several hours without a bite. Then I deskunked myself with a power worm.

We fished for another hour or so and decided to work the west shore a bit before giving up. Finally all that casting payed off!

15" personal best. :Envious:

It was a nice day up there. Hotter then we expected.

After giving it about six hours we hoofed it out and headed for south lake.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a276/yotamasters/fishing/8560f9f4.jpg

Walked into the inlet, nobody there. No fish either. We fished for a couple hours and left empty handed a tad after the sun went over the mountain. So far I had two fish, and my friend had the skunk. I suggested we stop at a spot along SF bishop creek that I can almost guarentee fish from. Usually small browns. So we stopped and my friend rigged up a power worm. We walked down to the creek with nothing but his rod and reel. After getting hooked in the bushes and succesfully getting unstuck, a few more casts drummed up a bite. And ohhhh was it a bite. MAJOR bendo and we knew we had a nice alpers on the line. This fish was pissed! He would not come in for the life of us. Fishing 2lb line Steve knew he couldnt horse him in and took his time. All of a sudden we saw the fish flash and it was not what we were expecting. Looked pinkish! It seemed like forever but it was really about 4 minutes and the beast was done. This particular part of the creek was flooding into a meadow so we had to carefully drag this fish about 10' through about 3" of water. Steve ran back to the truck for the net and by the time we got this fish in our hands it was damn near dark. But we got him in. 21" king of the creek male brown trout. :EyePop: Sadly we felt this fish would not survive release and rather then risk this beauty floating down stream, we kept him. The beast must die, long live the beast!

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a276/yotamasters/fishing/9acc8d0d.jpg

We wighed him a creekside RV park. Just a tick under 3.5lbs. We found about 10" of line coming out of his butt, and this little guy in his stomach. as pictured, this fish is about 5.5-6" long. Probably about 8" when eaten.
