fished crystal cove about an hour after high tide 3pm. found a spot with some submerged tide pools and threw my bait out.
never fished here before and didnt know how i should fish it. but i was able to pick up a 3 calicos and some kind of perch. the damn tidepools/rocks/seaweed were a pain i kept getting hung up and so did my gf. we lost a few fish too beause they would run under rocks or wrap us around the seaweed.
the last two calicos did that and i thought i was stuck. so i just left the rod in the rod holder and they would swim out from cover and id reel as fast as i could to get them the hell out haha. my gf caught one that would just keep doing that and eventually broke off.
after getting hung up so many times we decided to move down the beach a bit to something clearer with less debris. first cast out within 10 minutes we hooked into a nice shovel nose. it started to get late 630 and cloudy so we called it a day.
i de-barbed the hook for easy C&R so they can grow big for me one day. :P
