let me start off by thanking Dana, Jared and the crew at parchers, and all of Team 57 who made this trip successful and memorable. this was my first trip up to the sierras...and it opene dup a whole new world for me and i already have the itch to go back as soon as possible.
now for the report.
well we were supposed to get up the mountian on thursday, but due to unforseen circumstances, our departure was postponed till friday afternoon. took about 4.5 hours to get to parchers from home....although the drive didnt seem nearly as long due to the scenery and it being brand new territory for me.
arrived at parchers resort and grabbed our key to our new home for the next 4 days
http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/408/cabin.jpg
set up everything in a rather timely manner, went around and said some hellos to fellow T57ers and then strated grillin up our dinner for the night.

after dinner, we set up a little more for the night, talked to Patrick (mr. bendo) to find out where he was gonna fish saturday morning then headed back to our cabin for bed time. fell asleep rather quickly due to the soothing sounds of the creek flowing right behind our cabin.
5:30am saturday morning came rather quickly...turned off the alarms, jumped outta bed and gave michelle a quick nudge to let her know it was fishing time! got geared up, loaded the truck and off to Sabrina Lake we were for our first Easten Sierra fishing experience!
http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/1295/sabrina1f.jpg
unfortunately fishing was kind of slow that day.. patrick was set up to my right, and it seemed that his girlfriend melissa had the hot stick that day, quickly getting her limit and outfishing everyone else early in the game.
a few hours pass by and i finally get my first sierra fish..a stocker sized rainbow.

skunks off! the day went by kinda slow and we managed a 2 more within the next few hours.

although fun...fishing sabrina didnt really strike me as the reason why i drove 5 hours to the eastern sierras. a few times during the time we were set up, people started off the dam over my line, setting up right next to us...kind of gave me a feeling of opening day at a local paylake. i must admit...i was a little bummed out and dissapointed...but had fun nonetheless.
left sabrina at around 1 or 2pm, got back to the cabin and relaxed a bit. i asked michelle if she wanted to go fish somewhere else, but she got herself involved in a book she was reading and didnt want to put it down. so i gave her a walkietalkie, straped on my flyvest, grabbed my flyrod and hopped on my mountian bike and rode down the trail and tried for the few fish i saw hanging around in the creek running around parchers. unfortunately they didnt want to play with the flyrod or any of the baits i threw at them with my 2 foot travelrod i brought along. stayed out there for about 2 hours just exploring and enjoying the scenery and time on the water. nothing hooked up, but thats ok, i got some streamtime in.
headed back to the cabin and got ready for the team 57 tri tip dinner.
got to the cafe and recongnized a few people from the boards, but no one ive really talked to before. so me and michelle kind of sat in the back table.
not before long though did Sue invite us over to sit at her table with gator, greg, and gregs nephew scott. that is the true meaning of team 57 right there...just one giant fishing family making sure everyone enjoys themselves and has the absolute best time possible.
dinner was great, raffle was great, company was great...couldent ask for a better saturday night. we all topped it off with a campfire topped with great laughs, good jokes, stories, and entertainment provided by "Fire Marshall Phong"
called it a night around 11:30 or so after greg madrigal, scott, Greg, michelle and myself hung out and watched a bat swoop on moths haha.
at saturday nights dinner, greg M. asked me and michelle if we would be interested in taking a hike up to a few backcrountry lakes sunday morning....THIS is the reason why i came up to the sierras. i looked at michelle, and before she even had a chance to answer, i said "count us in!" decided on a 9:30 departure time and decided where to go after getting some advice from the parchers crew.
9:30 on sunday morning came and i hear a knock at the door...crap..slept thru my alarms. sorry again greg for the delay!
got ready and geared up in about 30 mins and greg, scott, michelle and myself were off to the trail.

one of the many views while making out way up the trial. those little green roofs is parchers resort.

Crazy rock formations
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3599/hike3g.jpg
after a good time hiking up the hill, with plenty of "picture/rest" stops, we get to our first destintation...
brown lake
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/1183/brownlake.jpg
unfortunately there wasnt to much action here...out of the 4 of us, we pretty much covered every inch of fishable shoreline...with no bites, followers, couldent see any cruisers or anything swimming around. on to the next destination!
brown lake on the hike up to the next spot.
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6425/brownlake2.jpg
hiked about another 30-45 mins and arrived at green lake
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6663/greenlake1.jpg
http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/2038/greenlake2.jpg
once again the 4 of us split up, giving a variety of different presentations, and switching them up frequently.
michelle even had a follower on her favorite lure...which she unfortunately lost shortly after
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1145/pinkzebraspinner.png
there were some bigggggg fish cruising around this lake. making it that much more tempting. after tossing spinners and kastmasters, i decided to switch it up to a minijig.
first cast on the minijig supplied me with this beautiful 2.5-3lb wild Rainbow
http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/6297/greenlakefish1.jpg
http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/624/greenlakefish2.jpg
THIS IS THE REASON WHY I CAME UP HERE! gettin hooked into some wild rainbows, going on a nice scenic hike, and fishing waters that are rarely fished!
a few casts later on the same jig
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2239/greenlakebendo.jpg
produces this guy...he was almost solid black on top, with a few spots above the lateral line, and completely silver on the bottom...forgot what kind of trout i was told it was, but it was definately a good one.
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3893/greenlakefish3.jpg
excuse the face...that was THEE coldest fish i have ever held....amazing that its not a fish popcicle.
hung out here for maybe around 2 hours...unfortunately no one else had any other bites... a few followers here and there, but nothing hooked up...i wish everyone coulda got on some fish, taht would of made the hike so much better. but we all know how the saying goes.."thats why its called fishing and not catching"
around 3 or so we decided to pack it up and head down the mountian.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/32/hikepipe.jpg
got back down to the hill...checked my GPS...5.6 miles, with a highest elevation of 11,740 feet. not bad, not bad at all!
thanks ALOT greg for taking me and michelle on our first sierra back crounty fishign expedition..it opened up a whole new chapter for me...already done with jareds book (which i HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE GET!) cant wait to get up there again.
later that night, we kind of had a makeshift team57 potluck...greg had a huge half a cow of a tri tip he was smoking/bbqing, we were gonna make a big pot of chili, and sue and gator brough the beer! had a great fun sunday night!
greg and the side of beef...best tri tip ive had...smoked to perfection!
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/696/gregtritip.jpg
in the end...this trip opened up such a great experience for me...i cant wait to get back up there...thanks to team 57 for being so welcoming, like always. if it wasnt for Sue inviting us over to the table, we probably woulda missed out on the hike to the new lakes. greg, nice meeting you, hope to fish with you again soon. scott, keep on practicing your "arm wrestling manuevers"
dana, wingnut/wingnut pug. thanks for the great raffle prizes...i dont even know when i could wear my new T57 shirt...its too nice to get fishguts on!
thanks for reading. see everyone on the water!
