Dont know whether this goes in photos or tackle forum, but i'm just SUPER STOKED!

after all these years of fishing, and reading wingnut's reports and being so damn jealous...i picked up my dream rod setup.

Its a 7'2" E21 Drop Shottin' Carrot stik
Daiwa TD pro reel (size 2000)
Pline 5lbs backing, Powerpro 10lb test braid.

Drop shotting is my favorite technique and prior to this i was drop shotting with a berkley $30 lightning rod, cant wait to get this rod on the water!

also, a week before this i splurged and picked up a 7 foot mojo bass casting rod for throwing plastics =D

and the first fish to get the skunk off the mojo bass rod

thanks, i LOVE my mojo bass rod, as long as i dont have major problems with it in the future i'll be a st croix customer forever, the craftsmanship is unreal for $100

nice...what lake is that that you are fishing. it looks like a small pond. I'm in riverside and don't know of any spots like that.

thats toluca lake out near burbank, its a private lake in the backyard of multi-million dollar homes. needless to say, we kind of ninja'd it in broad daylight LOL

tight! hey, can you explain to me the line setup you have on that. i know nothing about line, especially braid. what is backing? and you are using braid to dropshot? isn't it kinda thick or visible? maybe i just need a little explanation.

thanks.

you put mono on the reel first, enough to make a layer on the bottom of the spool so that the braid doesnt spin by itself on the spool, then you tie the braid to the backing.

the 10lb braided line is the same diameter as 2 lbs test line, so its actually thinner than the 5lbs i usually use, i use a thick tip sharpie pen to color the first 6 ft of braid black, a little secret which was taught to me by a friend.

the braid is tied onto the hook with a palomar knot, and on the opposite side of the hook i tie on 6lbs flouro running down to a slim dropshot weight.

dropshotting is unreal with braid and a sensitive pole.

Congrats on the new gear man! I fell for that TD reel too. Walked in to buy a Sedona, walked out with the TD. Great little reel for the price. Better than a Sedona imo since you also get the spare spool.

same here!

i was actually looking at the shimano stradic, then the TD pro caught my eye and i realized i could buy MOAR bait if i bought the cheaper reel. after playing with the stradic and TD pro, i decided i didnt see enough benefit to get the stradic for $130 more

Yep, I have a Stradic and while it is a sweet reel, it's hard to really feel the difference in spinning gear. The TD is smooth and I really like the airbail feature. We've caught some big fish on it and the drag has done great. At it's price point it's hard to beat!

Wow nice setup's. But i don't get why you set that good setup on the ground/dock after spending hard earned cash on it. Doh, lol. Have fun with them. They should last ya a lifetime.

lol, i had to put it down somewhere, and the dock was pretty clean. and i made sure to put it down gently.

also, the mojo bass rod has a shimano curado 200e7 on it now, the setup feels perfect =D

Some dope set-ups you got there man! Hey can you post up a picture displaying how large the reel handle knob are on the tourney special? Like put something beside it to compare it. I'm asking this because I'm thinking about getting one, but the only thing keeping me from doing it is the knobs. Thanks.

I like Carrots, I have a 7'3" MH and a daiwa sol 2500 I use 30lb braid or 10lb seaguar all the time on it...I had that same rod too but it snapped so i switched it for a Crucial Swimmy rod....

sure buddy, the knobs are definitely smaller than the ones on the curado. they were pretty comfy while i used them, i still use the tourney special on a shimano convergence. i'll get a pic for you.

I really beat it up though.... that rod was scratched and just used hard so i was really tough.... I snapped like 3 crucials and only 1 carrot.... bought em both at the same time....

If you have the receipt your set... if u dont it's a hassle... Also, if anything happens, don't deal with David at customer service.... He's a little prick and he wont do some. I already got in some arguments with him and his general manager over other things but avoid him lol... I asked a few older gents working around there and they told me they couldn't stand him either lol
