Figured I'd just start making reports instead of just heaping on those other regional threads.

Had two hours to kill so I figured I'd practice with my new fly rod. From 7:00-8:00 the Bluegill were active, not as active as mid-afternoon, but still biting. Had a couple of nips before finally landing this little guy.

He is pretty big for regional actually. Wife was pretty surprised, it was on the second cast that he took the fly.

nice catch!
Just wondering, is fly fishing hard to learn without help?
And is the pan fish action better with fly fishing compared to spinner fishing?

Was it hard to learn VERY basic fly casting? No, not at all. Youtube is a great teacher. As far as spin versus fly thats a personal choice more or less. However, I went back today with a different fly pattern. There were three other people all spinning red worms and pulling up a good amount between three people (I'd guess 6 Bluegill)... I however pulled up nine in an hour. (http://fishingnetwork.net/forum4/showthread.php?47462-Cerritos-Regional-6-22-10-Bluegill-SMASH!&p=467452#post467452)
