I arrived at my uncle’s place at 5:00 and we headed to Irvine lake and got their around 6:00 am. The plan was to do some bass fishing in the morning, drift for trout by the dam later and fish for catfish at night. We rent the P.O.S rental boat and head for the east shore. I start throwing a buzzbait and FS 13 for nada and my uncle goes old school with a night crawler and catches a couple rats and some blue gill. It was tough to keep any kind of boat position with no trolling motor but made due with a paddle.
We headed to Red Clay cliffs. The water had a little chop so I decided to tie on bleeding white spinner bait and start pounding the bank. All of sudden I get slammed. Finally caught a bass on my Johnny Morris bait caster
These bass were so aggressive that a second bass followed the spinner bait hooked bass right to the boat Here is his picture.

The next stop was Sierra Cove. This place is a nursery. We saw shad, fry, blue gill and various sizes of LMB and several with shoulders. The place had trees, grass, weeds, and various vegetation. I casted out my senko and bendo another bass.

We caught a few rats on the DS and then headed for the dam to fish deep for trout.
We start drifting with no luck so I break out my secret weapon a cigar and a micro brew. All of sudden my rod doubles over. It’ s hot so I drink another ale and land another bass. These bass we suspended by the damn buoy line with no cover or structure. So much for a pattern. Here are some shots of them.

After drifting we start fishing for catfish . The bite was slow. Finally I get a hit and it’s a trout that bites my mackerel. Another first for me. So now I need just one more species for a hat trick. At 10:15 I landed this Catfish to complete the hat trick. My question is what happened to those 10,000 lbs:Rolls Eyes:
We ended up with 9 bass, 1 trout and just 1 catfish.
