View Full Version : Father/Daughter day at Newport Harbor

Well since our softball season is officially over with, I decided to get back in the fishing scene. Ive been wanting to take my daughter out for some harbor fishing, just havent had the time. Well today we had some mix bags of fish. Lots of bites of course. My daughter had something on. May have been a good size butt or who knows it pulled her for a while and shook off. Whos, to say?? Well I had some action too, however the day belongs to my daughter. She caught her very first halibut today on a Zoom Fluke. Dropshotting! It was funny too, cause I had a butt on first, but my was waaaaaaaaaaaay smaller than this one, so I had to unhook it really fast and help her out. Also used cut squid with some action on the croakers!

It was also cool too, cause after we let the butt go, we just started laughing. We were just both amazed on how she landed it and how happy of a dad I was that she did :LOL::LOL:

Those harbor skiff rentals are pricey, 100$ i think. Its great that she caught it on a plastic, feels much more rewarding. How big was the hali?

$75 for 5 hours.The butt was short, bout a 17-19" Didn't matter we let all our fish go anyways
