I was lucky enough to make it out for this great event called Toss Back Tuesdays that is
held by The Sportfishing Conservancy. This trip was a completely "CPR" catch, photo, release trip
aboard the Toronado where they replaced the fillets with photos which was a awesome idea to
support C&R. so not only do you get a great photo of your catch, but you get to release your catch
and watch it swim free to live another day. The point of this event is to show that you can still go
out and have a great time on the water and still preserve our oceans for our young to catch and
enjoy in the future to come. With this i will start my report,
I became aware of this event after reading about it on another thread written by JapanRon.
After talking with JapanRon thru PM's i decided to make this trip out and support such a great
event and meet the founders as well as get some fishing in. I made it down to the landing and
set up my gear along the railing only to remember i had no smokes, Lucky for me a kind fellow
fisherman said he watch my gear and pointed me to the nearest 7-11. As i returned and parked
my truck i noticed JapanRon grabbing his gear from his truck and introduced myself.
Hoping the seaguls and cranes were goodluck like deer

We headed down to the Toronado where we set up all our gear and i got to meet fellow
FNN member "Fishstix" and everyone from The Sportfishing Conservancy that set up this event,
Tom Raftican,Bill Hopper,April Wakeman and many other great individuals.

We left the dock with a great group of anglers all there to support Toss Back Tuesday.
After a quick motor from dock we met up with the bait boat for some choice sardines and
a few squirters mixed in, as we were loading up bait i made my way to the bow and started
chucking a plastic and talking with another fisherman.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/IMG_0466-1.jpg
While looking away and not paying attention i got bit and missed it.,.,i thought to myself
aw damn that is not good, We arrived to the horseshoe in a matter of minutes and the bite was on.
There were plenty of charter and private boats around along with plenty of barracuda jumping
and boiling around for some good fishing. I started of fishing a dorado colored tady45 slow
retrieve on the surface for a number of boils before i got one to commit.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/0615Ericbig.jpg
Next to me was JapanRon slaying away with what else "plastics only" what a hardcore
angler he is for his dedication of plastics only, you the man JapanRon keep up the plastic only slayage
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/cdaron.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/ronf.jpg
Bob slaying the slime on plastics again, those slime loved the plastics Ron was throwing
almost every cast Ron thru he got hit but they would not get hooked up
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/0615FSTIX.jpg
Fishstix with his iron sandbass from the bow, he stood up there most of the day
I cant blame him it was empty and all to himself, cant complain about that
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/fsx.jpg
fishstix with his first plastics only cuda bleeding on the deck as james looks on
probably thinking,, dang it fishstix.,.,. " i gotta scrub that up later..lol"
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/stbl.jpg
the only person ive ever seen lip a barracuda.,.,., you got guts fishstix..
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/ron.jpg
JapanRon with a nice lil calico on what else.,.,plastics only.,.,just about everything
loved Rons plastics that day, which is nice for a change instead of them only wanting bait
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/fb.jpg
i had so many followers it drove me mad..i was cursing a few cudas that day
for not hooking up to my tady45, they wanted a real slow crank on the surface
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/steal.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/ywes.jpg
finally got one to take the jig and land it before the dogs can get em
and another after that and finally a log cuda for the jackpot win!
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/log.jpg
We continued to fish away with lots of fish being caught one after another
The bite a good pick of barracudas with a few calicos, sandbass, sheephead, rockfish mixed in.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/tom.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/toml.jpg
Tom with a sweet fight photo hook up and rewarded with a nice barracuda
after battling this barracuda.,.,great shot of the bent rod.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/april.jpg
April caught a nice calico fishing a sardine and egg sinker, she actually has 3 IGFA
world records for light line big game fish.,.,you rock april keep up the good work.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/IMG_tom.jpg
Tom with a nice calico to CPR and grow bigger and live free for our future to catch
because thats what the trip was all about catch, photo, release to fight another day
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/fishcam.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/cage.jpg
Here they are using the "West Marine Elevator" that helped return rockfish to their home turf
which was built by bob himself, great thinking to build a fish return box with a camera at that..
Here are some more photos of happy anglers and there catch
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/chn.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/ch.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/dvy.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/os.jpg
bob with "thunder" the deckhand in training holding up one of many sandbass
for the trip, good job junior deckhand, look for thunder in the near future.,.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/olo.jpg
bob with deckhand Aaron and a sheephead that was released using the elevator box
designed for this exact reason, to help and aid in the release of deep water fish
As the noontime sun beamed the bite seemed to slow a bit but non the less i continued
to fish away and talked with many great people thru the afternoon.
In the end my log barracuda ended up beating out fishstix cuda for the jackpot win.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/jpot.jpg
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/0615JPbig-1.jpg
All cash was given back to the crew for there hard work and help on the deck.
It was a great trip out and really great meeting and talking with everyone.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r428/AROCK1_photos/0615FNN-1.jpg

Hi fishbones,

Fantastic report on our trip. Most excellent ..... if this doesn't get folks interested !!! Sure had fun. With all the fish we caught, I think it was amazing that only three fish couldn't be returned to the water. That reflects greatly on the crews expertise and wilingness to go the extra step required for such a trip.

You two young guns were sure showing us predominately older anglers how to sla ....... er ........ how to catch them on the iron. FISHTRIX caught 'em every which way and as for you........ for forever and a day you're to be known by me as the 'iron animal' !! Hooked up on the retrieve, drop, slide, troll, flip .... whatever !!

The TSC did a great job on all the pictures they took and that is just one more super service and bonus on this trip. Gotta go contribute mine to their archives !!

It was a pleasure to put a face to the board names (knew FISHSTIX from last trip) both at the TSC and FNN. Thanks for the swag and hope we'll be sharing a rail again !!
