saltwater combo

Hey guys
opions on a calstar 870 15/40 rod with a newell p 229 f reel. Is this a good combo for local offshore and at catalina for a newbie saltwater angler? xlnt cond and they want 150.00>

Check out the Newell on ebay to see prices on that model.

Price seems a little high ... around 115-120 would be right. The Newell is a jewel, put 30# braid on it and you've got a good all around set-up for most anything local.
