I just came back from a 2 day and although the Bluefin are showing in scattered schools of 12-20 fish (all on the smaller side too) they are not interested in the offerings being made by anglers. The biting fish and big schools are still down past the 200 mile mark but it is encouraging to see some of those little guys closer to home.

I was out on Saturday on a 1 1/2, we fished the schools about 115 down and 35 miles off the beach. we encountered several schools through out the day. you would see full foamers pushing 2" chovies on the surface about 1/2 a football field or larger wide.

the numbers do not account for the several lost fish on the boats fishing them. our boat losses were 80/20, with many people pulling hooks. I ended the day with four, my largest being just over 30lbs and winning jackpot. but my losses were also high (working the rust out), as the four that I managed to land came with in 2hrs. of each other.

the area is completly loaded with bait and blue fin! its just a matter of time before they start getting rapped by the seiners.

Thanks for the update Miguel.
I see the boats getting up to 50 over the rail.
I might jump on the Condor tomorrow for the 1 1/2 day'er.
Gotta see what the wife thinks, since she is working Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sweet. I have a 2-day on the Apollo in a couple of weeks. Hope the timing is right.
