the strange lighter line around the perch is actually metallic gold colored pencil. Scanned images just dont capture those aspects...

All colored pencil, no digital alteration whatsoever.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, guys. The comments mean alot to me. Unfortunately, this is the only full-color pencil drawing I have. All the others have since been sold.

It DOES look better IRL, scanners have a nasty habit of making colored pencil look like crap.

If anyone wants a colored-pencil rendering of their catch, i do portaits for 15 bucks-- just like that surfperch. PM me! =)

thank you all for your input and compliments!

This is beautiful, didn't know you could do that kind of work with color pencils.

I utilized a technique known as "layering". What you do is lay a very faint "layer" of one color, then you add another layer of a different color. Try it-- It makes spectacular results when done right! Patience is the key.

Colors i used here-- Aquamarine, a bit of vermillion red, Yellow, Orange, Lavender, Olive green, cool grey, and subtle layers of metallic gold.

Sierrapeaks-- Those are pretty good, particularly that Squirrel.

Thank you all for your two cents.
