Yesterday was my first time going on a guided trip. BassEngineer and I went out with Art Berry. I think we were his first trip back to guiding in a while.
I consider myself to be a good bass fisherman, but I wanted to learn more about the DVL. I definately did that and some.
The trip was incredible. Art tought me more in 1 day on that water than I could have learned in years of fishing myself. His knowlege of the lake, fish, wind, current, etc., etc., etc., is on a level that I have not experienced before.
My goal for this year was to catch a smallmouth; never caught one before. I was planning a trip to either Mojave or Havasu this year to accomplish it. No need anymore. The first fish of the day caught was the first smallmouth of my life. I could have gone home satisfied right there, but we kept fishing.
Using various techniques we slaughtered the bass and striper all day. I even gave art some of my custom plastics. He instantly knew the perfect rig for it and it became new weapon in our arsenal for the day.
The size difference in the fish from when I go and with Art was huge. I ended up having an enormous bass jump next to the boat and spit my hook. It easily would have been my biggest bass of they year.
Art, Thanks again for a great day. Hit me up when you want some more baits.
Because of the crazy action, taking photos became the last thing on our minds.
Here are a couple of pictures that we got early before things got nuts.
Enjoy,
Jeremy
