Is that 35 to 50 pounds ?
Or 35 to 50 BSB.

It can be a violation to target illegal fish (even if you release them) as per DFG regs.

Example; You get into a school of 20 inch White Sea Bass. You sit there and C&R 20 WSB and DFG observeres you targeting illegal fish,
you can be cited due to the fact thet WSB have soft mouths and the mortality rate can be high on released fish.

Suppose some WSB go crazy stupid you and your buddy get get your legal limits and continue to C&R legal size fish. DFG recommends that you 'Pull Out' and move on to get away from the fish.

first of all the guy let it go and it swam off just fine and if I was in a school of wsb that were only twenty inches and I was c&r no one would say anything thats stupid to say that a dfg guy would tell me to move on are you kidding at dana harbor they would be citing the other 50 dudes with no license keeping under size fish they wouldnt care if I was letting the fish go since I`m like one of the only people that do.

So the answer is 1 Black Sea Bass at 35 - 50 lbs ?

They have come back pretty good and are incidental catches happen all the time.
With a quick release they do fine. People shouldn't fight them too much then hoist them up for a pic or gaff hook with a torn lip. If someone can't get to the hook then cut the line close and bon voyage.
Take a quick pic (in the water) then let em go.

That was a refering to White Sea Bass when they school at times. Guys have posted C&R 20+ WSB during a feeding frenzy. At Pedro last year the were schooling and you could see them but they were all 18" - 20". That is when one should move on and let the juvees be or legals once they get there limits.

Back your topic; Not DP Jetty but saw a kid get nailed by a huge set wave at Redondo Breakwall and flip through the air and landed inside the harbor just missing the rocks while cart wheeling 50' down into the water. He looked like a 6th grader.
He was unhurt, unreal, swam out ok.
