Sierra’s Day 2

After passing up the guys plan to fish Crowley Marina at 3 am, I decided to get some sleep Friday night, after being up for 42 hours, I was done! So I hit the sack around 11:00 p.m., and dreamed of my first Crowley Sac Perch that I was really hoping to nail on Saturday.

In a very deep sleep, which was great, I never sleep well, I was woken up by OG Warren telling me that Seng wanted me up to eat breakfast. I told Warren “Go tell Seng to go..” you know, lol. I was SO tired, but I took a whiff of Chef Sengs breakfast cooking, and that immediately got me outta bed. I went downstairs, took some bacon, and went back upstairs to sleep, lol. They came and got me up a minute later, so I got dressed and went down to actually sit and eat before we hit Crowley for our Sac Perch/Trout session.

Chef Seng hooked up a great breakfast, which consisted of Eggs, Bacon, and Eggos!!! After we cleaned up, we headed down to Crowley and arrived at the gate at around 6:10 a.m. There were only about 10 cars in line, so we got in quick. At the gate, we told the guy we were renting a pontoon, and he said the $10 entrance fee is waived, since we were renting! NICE! On a side note, this is a different world up here, unlike the “wonderful” attitudes from people at the pay lakes here, they are much more laid back and nice up in the Sierra’s.

We parked the truck next to Lang and Arctic, and proceeded to unload the gear. Sneaky lil Bastard OG Warren ran down to make a few casts before we got our pontoon, lol. First cast, BAM! He lands a nice Sac Perch! So we basically all decide to fish the marina area for a short time before we get the pontoon, and Seng, the great homie he is, REALLY wanted me to get my first Sac Perch. I still had to set up, and he made his way down there. I set up a mini jig with some Fish Crack. As I was walking down to the water, Seng lands his first of MANY 2010 Sac Perch!

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/ghettodad/TPF%20SIERRAS%20AND%20CROWLEY%202010/SDC11641.jpg

I make a few casts, and don’t get bit, and I guess Seng saw the way I was fishing them, and shared some of his VAST knowledge with me on how to work the jig for the Sac Perch. Next cast, worked it Seng Technique, and BAM! Fish on! These fish fight excellent for their size, with this one pulling drag a few times. Then, I finally complete my first Sierra’s goal…..I land my FIRST Sac Perch! Thanks a lot Seng, that was great man.

I was very happy and excited, first goal complete! Seng, OG Warren, Lang, Arctic, and damieN fished for a very short time, landing about 30 Sac Perch, and we decided to jump on the pontoon and head out. During this time, we saw (and heard, LOL) pokerface, fishkiller, catfish bandit, Hout, Quan, and Dianne on their pontoon and they headed over to the tires to do their early morning Sac Perch slay, and they were doing just that…slaying!

We jumped on our pontoon and opted to pass up the tires, knowing that we could come back later if we had to to catch some more Sac Perch, and headed out. The first area we fished was Seng’s honeyhole last year, and upon arrival, we noticed that there was no grass growing in this area yet, which apparently, we need to get into a larger Sac Perch bite. We still tried the area for zip, and moved down the lake to a point where all the trout guys were anchored up fishing. We set up the pontoon, and tried our luck there.

NICE START, FISHING THE SHORE FOR A SHORT TIME BEFORE WE HIT THE TOON!

After only seeing a few guys in the fleet landing trout, we decided to go looking to see what we could find. We headed into this cove, and I was this boat fishing fairly shallow in about 14 feet. I saw the fisherman on the boat swing and hook a fish, and I knew he was on a trout. I suggested to Captain Seng that we anchor up inside and fish, so we turned the boat, and achored up in about 14 feet of water.

We were all trying different things, when Seng decided to fish Salmon Egg power bait. Within a short time, Seng was hooked up on a NICE trout! Watching Seng fight this trout, I knew that there trout weren’t like the paylake trout that I am used to. These fish PULL! Once he got the fish up and into the net, I looked at the trout, and was amazed. Nice colors and a FULL TAIL!!!!

HOOOOOKKUUUUUPPPP!

Seng already had 3 trout on the boat before any of us got bit. We all rigged up with a trout hook, a split shot, and some Salmon Egg Power Bait, and all fished for these nice trout. Then we figured out that the key was to SLOWLY bring your bait across the bottom. Once we all got it down, we all ended up with some fish!

ARCTIC STILL CALCULATING HOW MANY FISH PER PERSON! LOL! NICE FISH MAN!

The bite shut down after awhile, and we decided to head back into the marina area to slay some more sac perch!

OUR CATCH OF TROUT AND SAC PERCH SO FAR! EXCELLENT DAY, AND IT’S NOT OVER YET!

We all re-rigged out gear for Sac Perch, with mini jigs and Fish Crack, and a short time later, we docked the toon, and decided to make lunch and fish the Sac Perch from shore for a little while. Captain Seng took a nap from that limit of big trout he got, and the rest of us hit the sand……and slayed! I LOVE sight fishing!!!!

I really enjoyed fishing this area, it was like an inlet type I guess. I continued to pick fish from the rocky areas, and ended up with some MORE slayage!

The bite shut down, so we decided to head back to the tires to finish our day out there. Once we got there, the wind picked up, but we still ended up picking a few. I believe day 2 Sac Perch count was over 100 for the six of us, plus I believe about 13-16 trout?? Someone help with the count if you want, lol. We called it a day, and headed back to the lodge to clean the fish!

Once we got back, and as we were cleaning fish, Phong told Damien that if he eats this pepper, and CHEWS it, he will give him $20…well, wth you think happened!! Lol

ENJOY D!

CLEANING FISH!! WHAT A MESS!!! LOL!
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/ghettodad/TPF%20SIERRAS%20AND%20CROWLEY%202010/SDC11704.jpg

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/ghettodad/TPF%20SIERRAS%20AND%20CROWLEY%202010/SDC11706.jpg

We each decided that we should get about 20 fish each, since we decided to put all fish together and split them up, which is really great to do. Once we all took turns cleaning the fish we wanted (I only took and filleted 12 sac perch, enough for about 2-3 “fish taco” nights at my house), we cleaned up the HORRIBLE mess and the they started dinner!

Tonight’s dinner was SOOOOOOO good! It consisted of Bacon Wrapped (pink meat) trout ala Seng, short ribs, veggies, steak, and SENGS FAMOUS FRIED RICE (with rice, shrimp, and Chinese sausage).

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/ghettodad/TPF%20SIERRAS%20AND%20CROWLEY%202010/SDC11707.jpg

PRETTY MUCH WHAT WE ALL HAD ON OUR PLATES! GREAT JOB WITH DINNER SENG AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED! IT WAS BOMB!
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/ghettodad/TPF%20SIERRAS%20AND%20CROWLEY%202010/SDC11708.jpg

After the HUGE dinner clean up (THANK YOU DIANNE! J), most of the guys played poker, and I just relaxed on the couch by the fire (thanks OG, you are the fire KING homie! Lol), and chilled. Wow, what a day, I do not ever want to go back to HB!

TO BE CONTINUED………………..
