Wow! Those are great fish! That Redear is just awesome! Are any of those recent? Do you ever change flies? Seems like you always have on a green Flashabou Wooly Bugger. It looks like it works for you, but we have seen small shad in the mouths of big BGs. Have you tried a tiny shad pattern? I'll bet that would work on the larger panfish. Thanks for sharing- I'll see you out there again soon I hope.

Fantastic assortment of Perris fish. I just started messing with the fly rod and can't wait for my first slab to get hooked up.

The flat fish were from the last 2 weekends.
These were yesterday.

Got 5 all like those. My Crappiest day of fishing ever!:Envious: I normally get 1 or 2 a YEAR.

I'm too lazy to try and tie different flies now so no I don't change very much.If I do try something different I'm usually back to my black bugger within an hour.

I call it black but its got Peacock earl colors for the body and olive in the hackle and the black for the tail. The body material is a synthetic material called Shuck from Jay Fair's.The Peacock color gives off a lot of glitter in different colors. Now that I see this pics it got a lot of Crappie color to it.

Its a great time to get out on the water to get some casting practice. There's a lot of little guys in the shallows to keep you occupied.Practice is always funner when you get something. Just tie on any small dry or wet fly and it will get smacked.

Awesome "on the fly" catches. I can't wait to get back to Perris.

BTW, what type of line are you casting (if you don't mind me asking)?

I use a Scientific Anglers type 4 uniform full sink ending with a tapered leader and 6lb tippet on a 6wt rod.

Get a tube Dude. Perris is so much better on the water.

Thanks for the 411.

Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up some sinking line and steal my brother's tube.

Awesome pictures! Going to to have to try Perris in this summer.

Do you run the sinking end mainly for the bass? I'm trying to setup my fly rod for bass and I keep hearing sinking end is the way to go.

Sinking line depends. You can go with a floating and get a sink tip to attach to it. Many swear by sink tip rather than full sink, they think you have a better 'feel' or connection to your fly (detect hits better). And in shallower water with weedbeds you don't want to sink too fast. Of course if you use a floating line you can always use a weighted fly to get down there, although I prefer non/light weighted fly's and a full sink or sink tip, easier to cast, weighted fly's get a little clunky when casting even with an 8 weight or better fly rod.

Nice fish! I'm a little slow on the fly out here in Silverwood this year for bass and panfish for some reason???? Maybe I need a trip to Perris...

Fishing the same place, same thing, same way.

I think it was sick or dying as it didn't really fight at all.Pretty much was like pulling up a 15lb. 2oz. log. Ugly SOB,thats why I cropped the top of the picture:LOL:.

Can I lip these things? I'm not really prepared to handle these things in the tube.I finally was able to get his head into my net then drag him onto my lap.

Was this a Flathead?
