For this week we went North from NPH to the Newport Pipe. at one point there were 6 boats fishing. Nothing for us. One boat caught a 4 foot Mako and a large Bat ray but nothing on the other boats. Went down south for the balance of the day and again like last week nothing till about 4:30 - 5:30 pm when we hit into some good size sand bass. Mayby 3 - 4 lbs. Against the kelp line near Crystal cove. There were 4 other boats --- it was quiet til 4:30 and then it was like someone switched on the feeding. other boats around us were catching fish also for that short 30 - 45 minute time ...... then it quit.
