It was time for a much needed get away so Sapen, Sint, Sapens Daughter and I hit the road for some clean air and some relaxation. We were going to meet Hbrew (Dad) and Josh, my Nephew who was visiting from Texas up at McGee Creek.
I had spoken to Fishsum earlier in the week and it seemed that he was going to be heading that way Saturday morning on his way to Tahoe for a week. So we planned to meet up for breakfast at Jacks in Bishop for some breakfast then some quick fishing. It seemed kind of funny to me that we live about 45 minutes away from each other and we planned to meet up 4 hours away for some breakfast. Hmmmm. We both arrived in Bishop within two minutes of each other and it looked like our plan was going to come together. When we pulled up I was also surprised to see Beernfish and was able to meet his wife. It was great to meet her.
It seemed after breakfast that our plan was not going to come together due to the fact that Fishsum was pulling a boat and it was evident that it wasn’t going to be a good idea to trail the boat along where we wanted to go. Oh well, maybe next time. I did get to see Fishsums wife again and meet their beautiful daughter for the first time. Sure glad she gets her looks from Mom. What a cutie!!

We then proceeded up the road to our final destination. Within a couple of hours of arriving we were joined by my Dad and Josh. Got camp set up and all was right in the world!

Fishing was pretty good all in all. It was a little slow at times, but the end result was pretty good. The weather was great during the day but pretty windy in the afternoons and had a pretty heavy dose of thundershowers Sunday night.

This was Sint’s first time up to the Sierras camping and stream fishing. He got off to a slow start, but caught on quick and definitely caught his share.
It seemed that the only thing that was wrong with the trip was that it was much too short as always.

Here are a few pics of our adventure. Hope you enjoy!

Well, it is just as beautiful as ever. I miss it so much. Looks like everyone is having a good time. Glad to see my son is still alive and well. I hope you didn't torment him to much. Was he fishing?? If you have more pictures of him please send them. I haven't seen him in a week and it is driving me crazy! I really wanted to jump in the Durango and take off Wednesday night.

Well, my mouth is watering now:D . We are going up Aug 2nd - 5th and we are going to be staying at McGee. Couple of question though...

Whats up with the two little ponds?
How was the campground itself? Similar to tuff in bishop?
Pretty close to Crowley, can you see it from the camp.

Looks like you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing :D

Dont know what little ponds you are asking about. I have been going up there for about 40 years and don't know about any ponds.

You can't see Crowley from the campsite that we stay at. There is a lower RV type park that is right off of 395 that you can see part of Crowley from. We camp about 1 1/2 miles up the mountain off of 395. You can get a good view from the road before it heads up the mountain.

Campground is in a valley type area and roads are paved. There is one bathroom area with three individual stalls on each side. There is water available from a pump style faucet. No hook-ups or anything like that. Shoot me a pm if you have anymore questions. I should be able to answer any questions that you have.

Have a great time... Here are some pics of the campground.

I really miss the Sierras Roy, thanks for all the pictures. I haven't been up that way in about three years. Now that Stickfighter lives in Reno, I'll be making my way up there.

Besides the fishing, I never can get over the cloud structure. Great photo opps against the White Mountains or the Sierra Nevadas.

It looks like everyone had a blast, thanks for sharing.

Thanks alot Roy! Aparently the two ponds are located at the rv campground. My buddy was going by memory and admits that he could be wrong about it. I really appreicate your kindness and willingness to share your knowledge of this area. I will surely pick your brain :D .

The pictures are just awesome. The one of the shelters over the park benches looks like a painting!!!!

Thanks again,
Jamie

Jamie,

No problem, shoot me a PM with any questions.

Your buddy might be talking about the You Catch 'Em pond off of old 395. It is at the base of the turn off and its a small pay per pound fishing lake.

Can't wait to see your report when you go.

Roy, I don't know how I missed your report.

Better late than never. LOL.

Congrats to you and your family on getting out and catching some trout.
Looks like everyone had a great time. The food on the camp grill was making me hungry this morning.

Thanks for sharing your trip with FNN

Hey Roy!

I like the pics and it looks like u had A LOT of fun! U guys ate at Jacks??? That is maybe 30 mins from where I live....too bad I was at Devils Postpile when u were there. I would've loved to have joined or gone fishing with u guys. U need to come up again and let me know so I can fish with all of u. Nice report!

I love living in the Sierras too. Everyone is very friendly, the slang/terminology up here is a bit diff than down south and if u r ever in need of something the neighbors are usually very friendly people...lol.

Alright well hopefully see ya up there sometime.
