2 Hour NPH Quickie 5/21

Aloha Fellow Fisher Peps,
Jr. & I only had a 2 hour window as we had dinner plans with some friends at 8:30pm. 2 hours was
better than nothing so we hurried & packed our gear. I have been teaching Jr how to use the
conventional reel which is a task as every father knows. Birds nest ah plenty... Jr.is getting it down.
A few more trips and with more practice, he will be a pro in no time. I had Jr throwing a 1/2 oz 5" smelt
BH while his other rod had squid. He had missed 2 bites on the squid. 3rd bite sticks & Jr. gets
his first NICE chunky spotfin croaker. This thing gave JR. a heck of a fight. I estimated it close to 5 lb.
Weather was nice, not sure what the water temp was in the harbor. Had a great time even if it was
just for 2 hours. Jr. didn't want to leave. I've created a monster...LOL

BIG...Mahaloz to everyone for your kind words. Jr. can't wait to go again.
I have him using a penn 100 surfmaster with 15lb test on a 7' teramar rod.
He also uses a 10lb test 200 calcutta on a 7' clarus rod. He's got the calcutta down
no problem, just the penn is a little more effort with out the level wind. He's loving it though.
