Is this a pretty good landing? Its about 1hr from me. I'm near oceanside and I'm kind of tired of helgrens.

I have had some fun trips out of Newport Landing. I usually go there to take the kids on a casual half day or twilight trip because they are close to home.

I think that it is like anywhere you can get on the boat and have a great group of guys to fish with and sometimes you get on with a bunch of asshats who are trying to wedge the kids out of there spots. Regardless we just move around the rail and enjoy our trip.

I have never fished Helgren's so I can't compare the positives and negatives, but for $20 it is worth a try to see if you like them.
