Hit up the Sierra's for the first time this season May 13-17, 2010.
DAY 1 - Lone Pine: Late afternoon Stockers galore and a Brownie!
Headed out from LA with my buddy around 2 pm and arrived in Lone Pine at 5 pm. Fished Taboose Creek, up and down, around the campsites. First fish of the trip was a Brownie. Also caught a bunch of stockers. Most people said they were having a hard time catching...not us! Couple of decent fish in the mix. All but a couple fish were released between the two of us. Did this for a couple of hours and headed for Bishop. Got to Bishop Creek and set up camp.

DAY 2 - Bishop Creek: Slow start, epic ending!
Started the day fishing at 5:30 am. Hit the South Fork first for a couple stockers each by 9am. Saw a lot of fish, a couple of big black clouds of fish, but maybe it was too early for some of 'em to play. Had breakfast at camp and headed for the Middle Fork. Caught and released a bunch of stockers until about noon...this is where it got EPIC! Alpers shows up and dumps a bunch of fish at several pools along the middle fork. Right away we got in on the action. Me and my buddy did a limit of Alpers ranging from 1.5 - 2.5 pounds in about 30 minutes. Again, most people were having trouble getting into these fish...not us! Other than us, the best catch I saw or heard of was a group of 4 people caught 2 Alpers. After a while, the fish scattered and the bite died down big time. Chilled at camp for a little while and headed back to the creeks. Caught and released at least another 30 fish between the two of us.
Early morning on the South Fork.

DAY 3 - Bishop Creek: Early morning Alpers and late afternoon stockers.
Hit up the creeks again for a solid bite on Alpers early in the morning, 5:30 am. Landed and kept 4 between the two of us in a matter of one hour. All around 2 pounds again. Headed to camp, did breakfast and that whole thing. Chilled for a bit, and headed back to the battlefields. Caught and released atleast another 20 fish between the two of us with one more Alper in the mix.
Solid 2 pound Alpers.

Day 4 - Convict Lake: The bite before the wind.
Started the day at Bishop Creek again, in search of leftover Alpers...none this morning. Caught and released a few stockers. Decided to head to Convict around noon. Caught 4 between the two of us and missed atleast 5 more. Kept these 4 for dinner at night. We only fished for a couple hours as winds started to pick up real bad and we thought maybe those leftover Alpers in Bishop Creek were ready to bite late afternoon. Got back and fished Bishop Creek for one more 2 pound Alpers.
Bendo at Convict!

Day 5 - Lower Owens on the road back home.
Cleaned up camp early and headed down the hill. Hit the Lower Owens at all the main bridges (5 in total) from Bishop to Big Pine for nada. Not even a bite. Not even a fish in sight. Not even the smell of a fish. lol You get the point. Decided to head home around noon, take a hot shower, and watch the Lakers put a beatdown on the Suns...and boy did they!
Lower Owens River.

All in all another great trip in the Sierras. Total fish count for the two of us for 4 full days of fishing was well over 100. Only kept the Alpers and a few stockers that we ate at camp. The Alpers came home for some gooooood dinner for a while to come!
