Got an invite from Ren714 for another tube assault. A little hesitant at first since I was on-call, but how could I resist?

Got to the launching point at 0600 and had a fairly consistent morning bite. Incoming tide, cold and drizzly. Enjoy the pics.

Anyone know what these are? Saw a few of these in the mud just as we were about to launch.

Ren got an early start on the fish while I was busy setting up my rig.

Dude, you have turned into a tubing fool! Next we are gonna see you on a tube with hoop nets! So I go to ask, how long was the hesitation there since you were on call? I bet not very! Good day fishing, I assume you were in the harbor that I believe has not spotties! Man, you make me want to get one of those things!

That's a striped sea slug aka Navanax inermis. They actively hunt other sea slugs and snails, and love calm bays. Interesting animals. Looks like a good tube session, and I am digging the down/acid/spiral wrapped rod. I always like reading your reports, and they always make me want to hit up NPH again!

Next time button on that Sea Hare and see if you get towed out to see!

It is our only hope for the future of the Spottie Population at the pace you are going!

Kev, hopefully all this wind dies down come summertime so that way you’re not getting blown into the docks. Lately, I’ve been having to get out there pretty early to beat the wind. Usually comes blowin in around noon time.

Yeah whatever that thing was caught my eye before I launched. Definitely not a shell thought. I nudged it with one of my fins and it shriveled up.

It’s interesting, besides the spots, sandies and spotties look pretty identical, but they are two totally different animals. When spotties fight they tend to take you underneath the docks and around pilings and the sandies tend to dive straight down as far as they can go. I still think Spotties fight much harder than sandies, but the sandies do get much bigger.

Yep, I was throwin the swimmie for the first half of the day and then switched to the jig just for the heck of it. I need me a faster reel though when I’m jiggin. The gear ratio on my reel now is 5.2 so I need to crank extra fast to take up slack when a fish picks up the jig. Missed a few fish not reeling fast enough.

Looks like a Acid Rod thanks for the pics and report i need to tube that place again.

Henry, was cool enough to bring an extra spiral wrapped rod for me to try out, but I’ve been on a hot streak with my obsolete Abu Cross Max. I just couldn’t leave my baby behind.

I’ll wear a different hat next time.

I’m sure I would’ve seen you out there if it were him that lent you his plyers.
You’ve been killin it out there. Keep it up.

nice report and pics.u keep on slaying them.
Thanks man. It’s been pretty good lately. I’m just trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Another great day out in the harbor Jason!?

Thanks for the report and pics,

Thanks Robert, I’m only in “Fish On” mode for now. When I start my summer internship I may be in “Fish Off” mode. :Crying:
I’m loving your surf reports. They just keep getting better and better.

Good day fishing, I assume you were in the harbor that I believe has not spotties! Man, you make me want to get one of those things!
LOL Trust me, I was a little hesitant at first, but it took me a split second to calculate the time it would take to kick back to my truck and drive to work in case I got called in.

What are you talking about? This looks like a spottie to me.

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss284/Jaysuuun/DSCN1684.jpg

So what are you waiting for? You’ve got the hookup through Basswidow, so I’m sure you can get a good deal on a tube and some fins. I think John has been wanting one too, but he’s gonna need a super tube.

Thanks for the creature ID. It was the first time I had seen those things lying around. Looked pretty cool with all the neon colors.

I can’t get used to looking at those rods. It’s got guides going up, down, and sideways. It bothers me that the guides aren’t straight, but that’s just me. I just want to grab the guides and twist them around so they are all in a straight line.

Another cool tube session gentlemen... I guess I skipped a step, went from the sand right onto a kayak. Keep up the nice work!

Thanks Arthur, you didn’t miss a step at all. When you get your yak, you won’t have to wait to hop aboard the Spotted Fever the next time you feel like hitting the harbor. Now you’ll have the option of hitting the harbor when the surf gets too rough.

Next time button on that Sea Hare and see if you get towed out to see!

It is our only hope for the future of the Spottie Population at the pace you are going!

Steve

LOL Steve there’s no way I would ever touch that thing. They look a little venomous with all that coloration.

And don’t worry the spotties are being safely released back into the docks they came from to keep the population growing strong.
