Took a quick out to MDR to test my saltwater motor that was just tuned up. I have not taken my ocean boat out in awhile. I did not expect to fish much, but my pops invited a few of his friends along, so I stop by my red snapper honey hole for them. A bad drift revealed there was a even better honey hole next to my honey hole. Mark that spot and continued a couple drifts over the ledge and produced some of the biggest red snappers I seen in a long time. We quickly filled our limits up of the tasty critters. 95% of the fish caught were red snappers. All less than 5 miles out. I guess I can scratch all my fishing plans for the San Clemente Island Rockfish and the Castros Camp trip. Here are the pictures in time:

This is one of my pops friend. He was the first to connect with a double red.

Here is my double on the next drift.

This one is a hog.

My pops other friend. A nice salmon grouper and green blotch. Not quite what we're looking for.

Another nice double. Most of our hook ups came up with two fish.

I got in on the action too.

Bucket mouth.

This is how each drift looked like. Just how I like it, full of reds.

My dads friend managed to pull in one of these on the shallower drift.

My pops other friend also contributed some nice hogs.

Another nice big one. As long as I got the drift on the high spot we were guarantee this size.

Me again with another nice vermilion.

Another drift. Everyone was hooked up and brought in nice reds on every drift.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1284.jpg
More reds. I am glad the smaller rockfish did not bug us today.

My PB for the day.

Doubles were the norm.

Pops is a weirdo.

Freakin' green blotches. Stay away from us.

Cooler #1

I am glad they did not listen to me complain about bringing cooler #2.

Parting shot. Back to reality.
Awesome day on the big blue pool. Got limits of big rockfish. Got to take my boat out again. Got to head home early. Got a delicious fish dinner. Got no work tomorrow. And I am getting to sleep in as long as I want. Life is good. See you all next time.
