First guy needs to learn how to sharpen a knife. It's a fillet knife not a hack saw.

Second guy seemed to know what he was doing.

Third guy should have his arm filleted for being so wasteful. Especially after putting up comments saying to take only what you need. That last bass was large enough to have gotten close to a pound of meat from what he threw away and he had a pot full of half a$$ed fillets.

Yes sharper knifes would help a lot and keeping the hands in another direction when cutting would be safer too.

Largemouth bass can be quite tasty. Ive kept many of them.

Its good that some of you want to protect them, but lying like that is lame.

Dont need to lie to kick it 8D

They do tend to absorb some nasty flavors from dirty water like catfish and trout do. Certain minerals and salts present will greatly influence the flavor. But younger fish do not have that flavor, because most of their food is insects.

From what ive seen over the years on this board, many anglers get upset about their catch tasting like crap.

Always gut your fish immediately after capture if you intend to keep it. Not only will it keep longer, but the organs wont start to digest the flesh. Bleeding them correctly is important, too. You cant just slice the throat.

Sprinkling some salt on the fish immediately after capture helps too

LMB is good eating, but there are better fish out there, like stripah :)

that dude needs to sharpen that knife, AND learn how to use it. Because if he only does the former, he's going to cut his hand off. Also 6 1/2 minutes to filet 1 fish (not including scaling LOL) ... WOW

Soaking the fillets in milk will improve the flavor. That's a common practice used for catfish to remove the muddy taste, and I can verify that it works.

I never tried it with bass, the few bleeders I've kept tasted good broiled or pan fried in butter, but like others have stated there are better tasting fish like striper, crappie and catfish.
