Had good reports, senko bite is on, shallow weedlines, still some bigger ones a little deeper. Had a good plan, til Mother Nature put a quick stop to it. Fished 7:30-11:30. Fought the wind the entire day, 10-20mph. It kills me...my Dad has a high profile boat, with no trolling motor. We would find groups of bass, but the wind would push us right off of them too quickly. By the time we repositioned ourselves 2 or 3 times, they were spooked. We had one jump off, along with 3 other short bites. Our lake anchor wasn't even holding us near the dam. It was so frustrating that our ocean anchor couldn't even hold us in place on points or in coves, we just dragged it. Any one know a reliable weather website for wind????? (Yahoo and MSN stink.) Oh well, back again with the warm and calm weather.

I looked up weaterundergroun.com that morning and drove 114 miles one way to gety blown off to.At leat i saw the record catfish brought in to the dock as i was launching the boat. I have the heaviest anchors of anybody out there and they did nothing. Well get em next time good luck. I left early too. By the way it said 6 to eight miles an hour wind, man thats bad info.

I check a couple different sites whenever I go to the Goon, so that I get some good information. http://www.weather.gov/ seems to be the best, but try other sources too along with it.

thanks diamondbear - local weather would most likely be the best... I know in the summer, the mornings are calm, and it picks up after noon. I hope it stays like that this summer.

I always check this one. It has an hourly forecast and includes wind speed.

nothing, absolutely nothing beats nws.noaa.gov. simple as that.

with all that said, wind can be very unpredictable, even if you've gone to years of formal schooling.

Tough day for sure.

That wind really does turn on those fish at DVL. With the right presentation, you can definitely turn the wind to your favor.

Dont feel too bad about your day.. Those conditions were brutal. Most people I talked to didnt do too well. And the better bite was later around noonish.
It was VERY frustrating for me too, to say the least. It was hard for me to stay on spots and that was with a good trolling motor.
You'll get them better next time!!! Dont give up!

You should get out there or to Perris with me sometime...

Man that is a bummer!
I usually try to plan with the weather/wind in mind, but even checking accuweather and ncoaa, it's not always accurate. We'll see what the wind is like tomorrow.

Best advice I ever got from Art Hill was wait for the wind at DVL and use it to your advantage.

You should always try and be on YOUR best piece of structure when the wind blows for the very FIRST time of the day at DVL. Trust me. Rick G.

Thanks for the replies, help, and encouragement, everyone! Trust me - I'm too hooked not to get right back on the horse, and always with more info. Bass fishing is too fun, especially when we all know what that lake holds.
