View Full Version : Chubasco 2- Saturday 3/4 day report

12 passengers left Mission Bay on the Chub for a day of searching for schooling yellowtail under schools of birds. We left the harbor and saw birds a couple miles offshore. 15 minutes later we were surrounded by breaking yellowtail that didnt want to bite but hung around long enough for the boat to land 9. I was lucky enough to get one on a fly-lined sardine. We spent the rest of the day searching and seeing lots of yellowtail who were feeding on small baits and were very sketchy. Looks like a good season ahead. Water was 65 but dirty with the red-tide inside.

The party I went to was great, saw alot of old freinds from high school.

12 anglers, 9 yellows, and you were one of the lucky ones who got one....sounds like good times. keep it up!

The total fleet count on Sat. was 7 tails, you guys did well!

Nice job on the yellow. They sure seem to be active ..... biting or not. Good sign for sure.

We fished our usual spot just out side The "Shoe".
Potporri of bottom dwellers as expected.
We did find some sand bass about 90' down as well.
About mid day
I was looking into the cloudy water..... ( What the heck is that stuff? Shows up on the meter quite well!)
I was looking down and saw a small school of fish with yellow tails moving at a moderate pace headed South.
They appeared to be about 2 to 3 feet long.
Is it possible these were Yellowtails?

Actually, I did forget my camera but ever since FNN changed over to some new format I can't seem to get my pictures up so I do most of my reporting on Facebook and put all photos on facebook. Thanks Aaron
