Jumped on the Toronado Friday night and Capt says we would be fishing close to home at Catalina and be on the hunt for WSB. Got to catalina about 1 or 2 and got three scoops of squid that everybody chipped in to buy. Tried to make some more squid but no luck. We fished the backside hard all day searching for the wsb but no luck. The boat had a decent pick at the sheephead at most stops looking for seabass. Overall very slow fishing but I still managed 6 keeper calicos, a sheephead, and a couple whitefish. Capt decided to try one more spot on the front side of cat before the journey home for the WSB but only a lonely butt was home. Finally headed home at about 5:30...
The capt and crew were awesome as usual and worked hard to find some fish for the boat. I will be back again soon!

The lonely butt I picked up! A keeper halibut at 6.5 pounds on the reverse dropper loop with a live squid and claimed Jackpot... I traded the Jackpot for my galley tab.

The Damage. I got the calicos on flylined dines deep in the kelp with a kelp cutter setup! Fun stuff...

Thanks for reading guys. Tried a recipe I got off the net with the halibut and damn it was good!!! Simple and quick. Try it sometimes... I added some chillipepper to spice it up a notch...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u229/lypeter23/001-1.jpg
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound halibut steaks

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil grate.
Combine butter, brown sugar, garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, and pepper in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
Coat the halibut with sauce, and place on the grill. Grill for 5 minutes on each side, basting frequently, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Hi Liteliner,

WTG on the JP. Hope you eat and drink BIG !! ha ha ha Fish count looked pretty good. Sounds like the boat might have been scheduled/planning to go to Clemente !! Took a collection for the Squid before or after the decision to head to Catallina instead ? ha ha ha Just kidding. Me ......I would not be popular on the boat I ride that wants me to ante in for bait as I just don't use it ...... in any form and see no reason to put out a cent !!

Better catching of WSB or Yellows on your next trip on the boat.

Nice job getting the JP Liteliner.
Must of been a pretty decent gally tab to trade for jackpot.
